Job Search Workshop

We believe finding a job is a full-time job and through the use of our leadership, motivation and tools, we educate and motivate our students on how to conduct an EFFECTIVE Job Search giving students lifelong skills on how to be competitive and secure employment above their competition.

In our Job Search Workshop, students will learn techniques such as what job boards are most appropriate for their career goal, job board profile optimization, creating and maintaining professional networks, how to target specific employers for specific job opportunity, how to interact with agency and corporate recruiters, what to do when you don’t hear back from an employer regarding resume submissions, how to organize and track application submissions and how to maintain accountability.

Our Job Search Workshops are educational, motivational and tailored to fit within the schedule of your students and may be hosted in a virtual environment, at our facilities or we can come to you!

Resume Workshop

It all starts with marketing materials. The student’s Cover Letter and Resume is the face of their job search. The way in which a resume is written… from its structure to its content… makes the difference between a resume being put in the Yes pile or No pile. Our Resume Writing Workshop teaches students how to write resumes from a recruitment perspective. In these workshops, we cover the Do’s and Don’ts. What to include in an effective resume and most importantly, what not to include. Our workshop also covers effective design and grammatical structure and how to draw out technical and transferable skills to tailor the students resume to meet the needs of a job description.

Interview Preparation Workshop

Interviewing takes time and practice to master. The more techniques a job seeker knows, the better and more confident interviewers they will become. In addition to one-on-one interview preparation, we also offer our students interview preparation in a group format where we discuss basic and advanced techniques and etiquette used to have the knowledge and confidence to secure their employment.

Professionalism Workshop

Above education and knowledgeability, the number one skill a student must demonstrate to increase their ‘interview to offer letter ratio’ is Professionalism. Employers will hire a job seeker with little to no experience if they feel the job seeker has good ethic, is polished, polite in demeanor and will make a dependable employee. Professionalism qualities can override lack of experience, and our Professionalism Workshop and Certificate teach students what it means to be a professional and how to apply professionalism principles to the workforce.

The Top G Interview Clothing Program

Our partnership with Men’s Warehouse has allowed us to open a clothing closet complete with stylish interview attire that is designed for interview success. This program is build for our men students who are unable to afford interview clothes. The interview clothing is on assignment and checked in and out as needed. For women students, we have a connection with Dress For Success, which caters directly to women who might not be able to afford interview clothing. The ‘Top G Interview Clothing Program’ is complementary to the students we work with.

The Student Recruitment and Intership Program

Our Student Recruitment and Internship Program is truly unique in that we establish recruitment agency relationships with local employers who want to hire entry level job seekers on a permanent or temporary basis. In efforts to keep our relationships strong with employers, we only deliver our employer network students who demonstrate the SMEG Standard of professionalism and who come recommended by their teacher. Students who enter this program must earn their certificate in Professionalism.
